Alan Jolliffe
As a Horticulturist and Parks and Recreation Manager, Conservation Manager, Heritage Property Manager and adviser. I have managed a range of Botanic Gardens, Parks, Recreation, and Heritage Places over a period of 28 years.
I am interested in future trends and ideas that will enable people to enjoy living in a world which looks after all its resources.
Within Tertiary education for over 18 years I have been a Principal Lecturer teaching (Recreation, Tourism, Marketing, Leisure, Research Methods, Management) and held Senior Management roles (Acting Dean, Associate Dean) in commerce, tourism, and innovation as well as Administration Services Manager in Civil and Natural Resources Engineering and as College Operations Manager in the College of Engineering.
The Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury is now ranked in top 1% in the world by QS ranking and has grown to become the largest department at the University.

Alan has a Master of Science from Indiana University (USA) in Parks and Recreation Management, National Diploma In Horticulture with Honours, Diploma in Parks and Recreation Administration and a Certificate in Adult Teaching. He is a Fellow of the NZ Recreation Association, Fellow of the Royal NZ Institute of Horticulture, Associate Member NZ Institute of Management and Member of ICOMOSNZ.
