- Yellow inverted V shape - magnesium deficiency
- Yellowing between the veins – Manganese deficiency
- New leaves yellowing - Iron deficiency Treatment Iron sulphate
- New leaves small and yellow – Zinc deficiency
- Treatment sprinkle sulphur around roots to increase acidity.
Insects
Katydids: native chewing insect
- Eat the tops of the stems and flowers. Also roses and camellias.
- Easy to capture and release in a local park or conservation area. They are native so look after them.
- Suck the sap out of the leaves and twigs
- Spray with all seasons spraying oil. Can add some insecticide if required
- Eat the inner parts of the flower
- Spray with insecticide
- Bronze and rust appearance on fruit near the stalk.
- Prune off fruit and stalk. Fruit generally edible though
- If bad use a miticide
- Tunnel inside the branches and stems and eject their sawdust from holes in the bark.
- Spray some fly spray or insecticide in the hole using a fine straw.
- Small white flies sucking sap and flying around
- Spray with any insecticide or neem oil or similar. Repeat srays will be necessary once a week for several weeks.
- Small black sucking aphids
- Use all seasons spraying oil
- Skin of the fruit is distorted and rough
- Copper spray, Copper oxychloride or other copper sprays
