Thelymitra cyanea. Swamp Sun Orchid
Thelymitra are referred to as Sun Orchids.
Commonly known Flowering from November to March this is a widespread orchid which likes to grow in large groups. It usually grows in lowland to sub-alpine areas in swamps and bogs, damp hollows within scrub. The photos below were taken around The tarn at Lewis Pass 12 January 2022. Both colours present.
It has distinctive broad dark blue, pink or white conspicuously striped petals and curled yellow (rams horn shaped) column arms.
