Ismene × deflexa
Offered through nurseries and garden centres as Hymenocallis festalis
Commonly called the Peruvian Daffodil or Spider Lily it does belong to the same family (Amaryllidaceae) as the traditional daffodil but does not really look like a daffodil except for the trumpet like flower.
Unlike the traditional daffodil it flowers in summer by making rapid leaf growth and producing a 60 cm tall strong flower spike bearing up to 5 flower buds. The white flowers have a green throat and noticeable long and protruding stamen and style. The wonderful flowers are large about 12 cm or more across.
Makes and excellent show and is often mass planted in warn climates.
